So Human

There are moments of my life

that I look back on, see

the people that shared that moment

of my journey with me,

Feel the love

remember the laughter,

wrap them quietly in a loving embrace,

lifting my heart up to the sky,

my pen singing of the wonder & miracle

of the Gift of this Life.

And yet,

there are days when I don’t know

just how much longer

I can carry this weight,

And the sorrows that I’ve collected

to carry from day to day,

the pains that just keep adding up,

though I continue to try

to make my way.

Oh!

How complicated …

to be so human
